Our client is starting up a Gold mine in Nevada and is seeking a Purchasing Agent to add to its full-time staff. The Purchasing Agent is responsible for all facets of purchasing for the mine adhering to cost effective buying techniques to ensure the warehouse is stocked to meet company needs.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY & DUTIES
•Select vendors, assess vendor capabilities, develop alternate sources and evaluate vendor performance. Negotiate price and delivery.
•Maintain vendor lists and files and catalog library.
•Coordinate purchasing details with vendor including pricing revisions, order cancellation, discontinued items, acceptable substitutes, and delivery date revisions
•Maintain records, provide information on price variances, provide price histories, and assure purchasing documents are properly completed and terms and conditions are appropriate.
•Compare costs and evaluate the quality and suitability of supplies, materials, and equipment.
•Maintain/update list of supplies and cost as needed.
•Coordinate all purchases; order merchandise based on approved requisitions.
•Review requisitions for accuracy, completeness, and prepare and process assigned purchase orders.
Safety & Environmental:
•Responsible and accountable for the performance, and compliance of mine site safety and environmental policies and procedures for all personnel and vendors
•Participate in Planned General Inspections
•Provide safety and environmental leadership by always setting a good example
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
•3 to 5 years’ experience in a purchasing environment required
•5 years warehousing experience
•Computer literate and proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software
•High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
•General knowledge and understanding of basic purchasing, logistics and accounting concepts required
•Good negotiation skills
•Knowledge of products within mining industry preferred
•Knowledge of ERP systems
•Strong time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and handle the pressure of last minute requests with little to no supervision;
•Excellent interpersonal/relationship skills; able to communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization, written and oral.
