Project Cost Controller

Our client is a Mexico based mining company looking for a Project Cost Controller. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Capital Cost Control process for the construction of the company’s new mine and plant, and for ensuring that the use of capital funds conforms to the standards and procedures prescribed by the company’s policies and the projects budget. The position has a direct responsibility to the Finance Manager and functionally responsible to the Project Manager.

• Provide cost and financial control support for the project by working closely with the accounting and operations teams
• Prepare detailed weekly and monthly cost reports, forecasts and analysis
• Provide advice on estimating, planning, cost control, and risk analysis to the project teams, and other stakeholders
• Issue budget updates and project cash flow. Prepare forecasts, cost trend reports and monitor cost and budget forecasts
• Ensuring effective controls are implemented in accordance with company management procedures
• Review contractor, vendor, and consultant invoices
• Coordinate with the purchasing and receiving teams to ensure all deliverables were received before authorizing payments
• Establishing and managing the projects and activity structures in the ERP system
• Preparing all required project journal entries for the month-end closing process based on milestone or percentage of completion

• CPA designation
• Minimum of 20 years mining related experience in Mexico
• Excellent oral and written communication in English and Spanish
• Excellent knowledge of budgeting, business planning, and project cost management
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and ERP systems
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines
• Willingness to relocate to Mexico for the duration of the project
