The candidate must be able to contribute positively within a team of professional and technical people in a dynamic, creative, and energetic work environment related to the ongoing development and production of the 15,000 tpd heap leach gold mining operation and ongoing development of the gold mine. The successful candidate will manage a process team and work with experts from other disciplines to optimize the performance of the Company’s assets.
General Job Duties:
Directs, reviews and monitors metallurgical and processing operations of mine. Hire, manage and develop technical staff through coaching, training and performance review. Supervises or may serve as Project Manager or technical expert, on large construction, expansion or mill modification projects. Responsible for budgeting and cost control for processing, metallurgical and laboratory operations. Monitor practices and technology to advise management upon trends and alternative procedures to adopt in order to optimize mill performance and effectiveness. Monitor plant performance, identify sources of variability and opportunities for improved performance and then evaluate and make recommendations for improvement. Works closely with the mine to trouble shoot process issues and improve overall performance, related to production and metal recovery.Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement. Conceive and coordinate investigations, test work and technical projects to maintain performance and to identify opportunities to exceed targets. Implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency of all results. Supervise metallurgical studies and test programs, on-site, in-plant, as well as in third party facilities. Contribute to strategic planning and prepares budgets for processing operations, metallurgical testing, equipment or related services. Closely liaise with the Mine Manager and their teams to ensure that analytical results meet their business requirements in terms of timing and accuracy. Fill in as necessary as backup for Mine General Manager during absences.
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or Mineral Processing preferred—but will consider applicant’s work experience.Minimum of 10 years practical experience in precious metals production operations, with at least 3 years of heap leach operation experience including crushing, agglomeration and conveyor stacking. Demonstrated ability to work in harmony with all departments and stakeholders to achieve the highest level of safety and environmental performance. Demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage and supervise in-plant metallurgical audits and plant surveys. Demonstrated ability to provide in-plant troubleshooting and process review in order to identify and seize opportunities for improvements.Demonstrated ability solve problems through innovation and to evaluate and/or develop new technology. Excellent computer skills; Strong people, analytical and leadership skills.
