Mine Engineer

Our client is seeking a Mine Engineer To conduct feasibility studies and/or environmental assessments into potential underground ore deposits. Plan, optimize and manage the extraction of ore from viable deposits. This position is based at an operating mine site in Eastern Canada and all candidates must be eligible to work in Canada to be considered for this role.

The Mine Engineer is responsible for:
• Assessing the commercial viability, environmental impact and extraction risks of potential ore deposits;
• Designing shafts, ventilation systems, tunnels, structure supports, etc.;
• Determining appropriate drilling and blasting techniques and advising on best methods;
• Preparing operations budgets, schedules and reports;
• Planning and managing mining construction projects and budgets;
• Using specialist computer applications for mine design, modelling and mapping;
• Monitoring, evaluating and optimizing underground mining performance.

Specific tasks include:
• Conduct pre-feasibility and feasibility studies on potential ore deposits and advise on commercial viability;
• Determine best methods to extract base metals from underground mine;
• Plan, recommend and coordinate mining process, type and equipment capacity requirements;
• Apply knowledge of mining engineering to solve problems concerned with environment;
• Design, implement and monitor underground construction projects;
• Designing shafts, ventilation systems, tunnels, structure supports, rock dust and radon gas control, drainage, rail and conveyor systems and material cleaning;
• Determining appropriate drilling and blasting techniques and advising on best methods;
• Preparing operations budgets, schedules and reports;
• Planning and managing mining construction projects and budgets;
• Using specialist computer applications for mine design, modelling and mapping;
• Monitoring, evaluating and optimizing underground mining performance.

Requirements:

Education
• B.Sc. in Mine Engineering
• Working towards P.Eng. or currently P.Eng.

Experience
• Ideally 2-5 years in previous mine engineer role
• Underground mining experience required

• Bilingualism considered an asset.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Advanced knowledge of Auto CAD and A-Mine
