HR Manager

Our client, which operates a mining/processing site in western Montana, is looking for an energetic Human Resources Manager to work in a leadership position and in charge of the HR function at this location. Reporting to the General Manager, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for driving and implementing strategic change, acting as a trusted advisor to the company Leadership Team, the delivery of key strategic projects and managing the day-to-day HR function for the site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide high level, timely and professional advice to site Managers and staff, on HR- related matters including disciplinary and performance management issues, the interpretation of HR-related legal requirements and the application of company policies and procedures.
  • Provide performance and management guidance to enable positive changes in the management of people and performance improvement consistent with company’s Core Purpose and
  • Ensure compliance with all employment related legislative
  • Manage and oversee all company recruitment. This includes advertising vacant positions, liaising with recruitment firms, preparing relevant selection documentation, scheduling and participating in interviews where relevant, undertaking referee checks and ensuring employee contracts are accurately prepared.
  • Manage and oversee the effective administration of the site HR function including:
    • onboarding of new employees;
    • working closely with the finance team, in particular – payroll, to manage all employees’ appointments, cessations and provide interpretations and advice with respect to employee pay rates and benefits;
    • establishing processes and procedures including a HR information management system to ensure appropriate levels of governance;
    • establishing and maintaining HR records, reports and organization charts;
    • reviewing, developing and implementing HR policies and procedures for the whole employee lifecycle to ensure consistency within the organization; monitor
  • Collect, analyze and report on key HR statistics to the Site Leadership Team, the Global People, Safety and Legal Team and other stakeholders as
  • Manage and oversee workplace investigations, redeployment, termination and redundancy processes as
  • Coordinate site performance reviews
  • Provide advice to leaders on Workers Compensation and Return to Work
  • Any other HR-related duties as

  • Together with the Site Leadership Team and the Global People, Safety and Legal Team develop and implement an annual HR strategic plan for site.

SKILLS AND SELECTION CRITERIA | RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s degree in human resources or relevant discipline is essential.

SKILLS AND SELECTION CRITERIA | ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Not less than 5-years’ experience in a senior HR
  • Sound knowledge of the principles and practice of contemporary human resource management, including relevant
  • Experience in development and implementation of a HR strategy that is aligned with corporate
  • Excellent organizational, administration and project management
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, advising and supporting senior business leaders and employees across multiple
