Mine Trainer

Our client is seeking a Mine Trainer to develop and administer training programs for Mining Operations, improve basic training as required and collaborate with team leaders, superintendents and mine or mill managers to identify and prioritize training needs. This position is based at a mine site in Eastern Canada and all candidates must be eligible to work in Canada to be considered for this role.

The Health and Safety Trainer will be responsible for preparing teaching materials and job aids, and delivering training for Mining Operations. This includes planning and optimizing training schedules within operational deadlines and tracking and documenting employee progress. The Trainer will also deliver training to individuals and groups on work sites, in equipment cabs, or in a classroom, focusing on Mobile Equipment and General Mining Processes.

Education & Experience Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Advanced education in Health and Safety is a definite asset
• Training and/or certification in Equipment Operation (Tickets) and ‘Train the Trainer’
• Technical diploma considered an asset
• Underground Common Core or equivalent considered an asset
• Minimum 5 years training or experience in one or more fields or processes related to mining or mineral processing
• Working knowledge of and experience with federal, provincial and local workplace health & safety legislation, rules, regulations and reporting processes and procedures as they apply to mining

• Excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
• Strong oral and written communication ability in English
• Strong people management and development skills
• Knowledge and personal credibility to be able to influence all levels of the organisation
• Ability to effectively influence others
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• A proactive and positive attitude
• Bilingualism considered an asset
• Basic computer and web access knowledge
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Working knowledge of the OH&S Act
• Working knowledge of lead hygiene
