Health & Safety Coordinator

Our client is seeking a Health and Safety Coordinator to be responsible for implementation of Mining Operations Health and Safety programs, evaluation and development of safe work procedures and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety Policies. This position is based at a mine site in Eastern Canada and all candidates must be eligible to work in Canada to be considered for this role.

Job duties include developing and reviewing health and safety rules, policies and procedures in accordance with site, company and government regulations and legislation. Will also train and direct Mine Rescue Team emergency response program and maintain up-to-date safety practices throughout the Mining Operation. Review and deliver site inductions for new employees, subcontractors and/or visitors.

Education & Experience Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Advanced education in Health and Safety is a definite asset
• First Aid training considered an asset
• Professional designation i.e. CRSP or NCSO
• Mining Common Core or equivalent considered an asset
• Working knowledge of and experience with federal, provincial and local workplace health & safety legislation, rules, regulations and reporting processes and procedures as they apply to mining
• 5 years industry experience
• Emergency Management and Fire Prevention experience considered an asset
• Mine Rescue Certification
• “Train the Trainer” certification considered an asset

• A proactive and positive attitude;
• Bilingualism considered an asset
• Basic computer and web access knowledge;
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
• Working knowledge of the OH&S Act;
• Working knowledge of lead hygiene.
• Working knowledge of SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus)
