Environmental Manager

The Environmental Manager is responsible for the management, supervision, and direct activities of the environmental department and strengthen the company’s environmental performance and its social license to operate and reduce environmental risk during a restart of the operations.


Develop, Modify, Communicate, and Implement programs and procedures to assure the compliance of the mine site with applicable federal, state and local environmental regulations.
Responsible for drafting, preparation of, maintaining and obtaining permit applications and application renewals.
Meet with and have good working relationship with regulatory agencies, other departments and consultants hired to provide services to the company.
Familiar with Operation Plans and able to construct minor modifications to the operating permit.
Responsible for the preparation, and submission of the quarterly water pollution control and air quality permit reports.
Regularly audits and monitors environmental performance and applies the principles of hazard identification, risk assessment and control as a basis for improvement and to demonstrate compliance.
Ensures that all employees, including contractors, are trained on the company’s company environmental responsibilities, policies and commitments.
Manage all waste on mine site, coordinating hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposals, to include testing, shipping, manifest, record keeping and reporting.
Familiar with Class II Air permits to include Class I – Mercury Operating Permit.
Ability to be on call and respond to site for environmental incidents.
Ability to set up, administer, and audit systems for compliance, action planning and control.



Minimum of five (5) – ten (10) years of experience in the environmental permitting and compliance in a mineral industry with experience in an minerals industry required, Heap Leach experience a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science required.
Knowledge of the regulatory requirements for mining.
Air Quality experience with Class II Operating Permit and Class I Mercury Operating Permit.
Current Hazwoper with ability to obtain certifications on RCRA and DOT Hazardous Materials Transportation
Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, technical writing and ability to interact with all levels of employees, management and contractors.
Proficiency in environmental engineering systems, cost management and productivity enhancements.
