AP & Treasury Accountant

Our client is seeking a Payroll & Treasury Accountant in its Vancouver office to enter all the daily financial transactions into our accounting software; prepare all cheque runs, payrolls and CRA and Work Safe filings. Additionally prepare weekly cash position report for management, reconcile intercompany accounts weekly. This position reports directly to the Senior Accountant and Corporate Controller. Strong preference for candidates already located in the Vancouver area.

Job Duties
• Enter daily bank transactions and invoices
• Obtain proper approval on all invoices
• Prepare POs on request
• Enter expense report and credit card invoices
• Monitor cash and credit card balances
• Prepare weekly bank reconciliations and intercompany accounts reconciliation
• Prepare cash report position for management every week
• Prepare weekly cheque runs
• Prepare Bi-weekly, Semi-monthly and monthly payroll
• Prepare CRA tax filings: HST/GST, FTS (if needed),T4 reconciliations, T4A-NR, T4A
• Enter daily FX rates in accounting system
• Communication with vendors
• Prepare quarterly Work Safe report and annual assessments
• Projects as assigned

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CA, CGA, CMA designation or working towards obtaining designation preferred

• 3-5 years’ experience in accounting under IFRS
• Accounting experience with public companies is highly desired
• Previous experience working in a mining operation preferred

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
• Excellent knowledge of regulations and reporting requirements
• Thorough understanding of accounts payables, payroll and administration process
• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, IFRS
• Knowledge of financial reporting and internal controls
• Technical accounting skills
• Ability to work well under pressure on a number of tasks with imposing deadlines
• Creative problem solver and able to respond to various situations with appropriate urgency
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of ACCPAC – Sage 300 considered an asset
• Understands financial consolidation, foreign exchange entries
• Must be able to adhere to a high level of confidentiality
